Author, Janet Pogue Tolle, is offering two children’s books that feature local illustrators, local history, and animal characters: Silas, the Great House Cat (published in 2022), illustrated by Dusty Scott; and Nellie and the Runaway Drone (published in 2023), illustrated by Nikki Ponce. View book descriptions, photos and a video below! She will be doing readings from her book each day of the event at Noon.

Silas, the Great House Cat, a children’s book (released Aug 2022), was inspired by a true event, which took place on Halloween at the Silas Willard House, 501 E. Losey Street, Galesburg. Janet Tolle wrote the story and invited Galesburg painter, Dusty Scott, to create the illustrations. Several Galesburg children and adults served as models for Scott’s illustrations. The photos below show the creation of Nellie and the Runaway Drone. The illustrations in the book and in the video below are done by artist Nikki Ponce. Galesburg businessman, Robert Bondi, provided the drone and the aerial photos. Anne Golden took the photos of the drone flying. Their photos are in Janet Tolle’s new book.
